DPED 203: SOCIAL, SPIRITUAL AND MORAL EDUCATION (SSME)

Course Overview: 

This course provides an integrated approach to Social, Spiritual, and Moral Education, designed for primary teachers in Zambia. It aims to develop educators’ understanding of how social, spiritual, and moral dimensions interact and influence educational practices. The course is divided into four key subjects—History, Geography, Religious Education, and Current Affairs—each focusing on its specific domain while contributing to the holistic development of students in the primary education system.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

1.    Understand and teach the social, spiritual, and moral aspects relevant to primary education.

2.    Apply knowledge from History, Geography, Religious Education, and Current Affairs to enhance students' holistic development.

3.    Integrate these subjects effectively into the primary school curriculum.

4.    Foster critical thinking and ethical understanding among primary school students.

General Course Description

Creative and Technology Studies (CTS) is designed to provide primary teachers with comprehensive training in essential subjects: Home Economics, Industrial Arts, Expressive Arts, Music, and Physical Education (P.E). The course aims to develop teachers' skills in delivering creative, practical, and technological education that aligns with the Zambian Primary Teachers' Diploma syllabus. It focuses on equipping teachers with the knowledge and methodologies needed to engage students in these diverse disciplines, fostering creativity, practical skills, and holistic development.

  5. Develop skills in communicating assessment results to students, parents, and stakeholders
